SEMO DayCruiser Kit

Many swedish visitors will recognise this modelboat-kit right off, maybe with a smile in the face! This boat have been built by thousands in Sweden. Also I did.

SEMO Day Cruiser

But the former owner/seller Truedsson in Malmö who made this kit, has been gone for many years. I did take contact with Göte Niklasson who has copyright on most old SEMO plans, if it was Ok to use it on LA SKALA's Homepage as a building project for new beginner members. He agreed and I also have talked to SE Norrman who made the plan back in the 60's. The rights are checked.

My idea was to increase the size to 200% (the original model was only about 43 cm in length) and make it as simple as possible. Probably also install outboard engines, to avoid problems with leeks around the props-axle. Quick and simple, but still with real frames and "some" self-building. A kind of semi-kit, instead of semo-kit... At first I was planning to use the plan right off, but I after I created my templates not much more than the stern-frame design are left from the original plan. The rest is more like look-alike.. I founded several things which could be even simpler plus that I wanted it to more look like a Glastron or Changeller boat from '77. Also when I doubled the size, several things got different, fex I needed more frames to hold the skin straight.

Original Plans

If you decide to use these, experiment first with different printouts.

3D sketches on the hull, right part. 3D sketches on the hull, left part. Most importent if you wan't to follow this original plan. Frames and all curved parts are included on this one. Right, bottom part of the sideview. Left, top part of the sideview.
